The Program

The college believes that simulation exercises, while an important part of the nursing educational experience, cannot fully substitute for clinical experience, and, as a result, students are required to participate in clinicals to some degree for a full five semesters. The school has a focus on service learning, so, according to the college’s website, students spend many of their clinical hours serving the “economically disadvantaged and medically under-served residents of York City.” During students’ final semester, they work one-on-one with a nurse mentor in the student’s area of specialty and eventually come to take over that nurse’s patients, proving that the student has the knowledge and skills necessary to transition into their own nursing career.
